The 69 Trofeo Ciutat de Palma Bufete Frau aims for a top level participation

Optimist sailors from 11 countries have already confirmed their participation at the event organised by the Real Club Náutico de Palma from the 5th to the 8th of December.

The 69 Trofeo Ciutat de Palma Bufete Frau is the oldest sports competition in the Balearic islands, and is one of the most important regattas in Europe, for the Optimist sailors. The event will take place in the Bay of Palma from the 5th to the 8th of December during the national spanish holiday called The Constitution. Although there is still one month to go before the event starts, the organisation is pleased with the entries as there are 11 countries and almost 200 competitors. Vivi Mainemare, sports coordinator of the RCNP reminds that the organisation has invited the following non olympic classes for this edition: Optimist, Laser, 420 and Europe. We are also happy today to confirm the following countries: Bermudas, Austria, Chile, Hungary, Holland, Sweden, Switzerland, Ireland, Germany, Denmark, France and Spain. .

“We are very happy with the sailor´s quality, some of the Optimist sailors are top ten of the past world championship", explains Viviane. Amongst these sailors we have Jaime Ayarza (bronze) and the Bermudan, Christian Ebbin.(eighth). We have also invited the first three girls of the European Championship.

“Last year we agreed together with our sponsor Bufete Frau, to support quality and are very satisfied with the result", explains Manu Fraga, sports director of the RCNP, and we thank all the teams that make the effort to participate in the event. Germany for example brings down 38 opti sailors who also will organize some winter training in our club and bay.

The racing will take place on the 6, 7 and 8 of December, registration confirmation will take place on the 5th . The first warning signal will be, weather permitting, at 10:30. On the last racing day (8th dec.9), no start will be given after 15:00 and the prize giving ceremony is scheduled at 18:00.

The main sponsor of the event, Bufete Frau, will dispose a spectator boat for the participants parents and family during the three racing days. The RCNP and the Fundacion Turismo de Palma Mallorca will offer the parents and family the possibility to hop on the City Sightseeing bus.
