Spanish sailor Albert Torres undisputable leader in Palamós

Day two saw again a great performance from Albert Torres (RCN Palma) at the XXV International Vila de Palamós Optimist Trophy that will finish tomorrow in the bay of Palamós. The perfect S-SW Garbí wind, 18 to 22 knots, blew again in the racing area and all groups could complete the three races scheduled.

Torres finished ninth in the first race of the day which he discards and continued with a great performance with a second place and a bullet in the last race of the day. With a comfortable advantage, the Spaniard leads the standings followed by Albert Gelpí (CN El Balís) who climbed to second overall following the disqualification of Antoni Massanet (RCN Palma) after a protest against Pablo Luján (CN Jávea) making Massanet drop to seventh overall and Luján climb up to fourth place of the standings. Third place on the podium is for Italian sailor Alberto Tezza.

Spain, France, Russia and Switzerland are the nations represented among the top ten classified.

Sunday will be day of finals with three races scheduled and the fleet split in groups Gold, Silver and Bronze with 126 boats in each group. The top 126 sailors in the Gold group will battle tomorrow to decide the winner of the International Vila de Palamós Optimist Trophy and the Optimist Excellence Cup Circuit.
