The athletes of the RCNP receive their award after a very successful 2013

The RCNP held the Sports Gala this past Saturday, event where the 28 sailors and canoeist of the yacht club receive their award after a years competition in National, European and World championships.


The sports gala was divided in five sections.
The first group to collect their awards has been the canoeist team of the RCNP-Obra Social La Caixa, having obtained some of them successful results such as:
silver medal at the Europeans by Adriana Paniagua (the first spanish canoeist to win in a continental event in this category. Bronze medal by Adrián Castaño in the disabled Canoe. Alicia Heredia, Belén Arnau, Elena Monleón, Raquel Bota, Selena Coca, Carlos Cerezo, Joel Badía, Alexis Capdevila, Iván Fernández, Enric Paradela and Ainhoa Hernández also collected their awards for the excellent results obtained this year in national and master categories.

The cruisers came in second to pick up their awards, Joan Cabrer, owner of Airlan Aermec, and Tim Liesenhoff, owner of the classic yacht, Marigan (1898), received their recognition of a complete year of regattas of the national cruising circuit and for Marigan as the winner of the Mare Nostrum circuit for classic and vintage yachts. Both boats collected their awards with the whole crew.

The sailors, María Bover, bronze medal at the Opti worlds, Albert Torres, national opti champion (amongst other excellent results) closed the third group of dinghy classes. Other awarded sailors have been: Luis Mas, Marie Gehrig, Íñigo Basterretxea, Marius Mádrenas, Christian Poulet, Miranda Corral, Joan Cardona, Antoni Massanet, Giulietta Lang and Pau González, all of them with medal places in national championships.

This year the RCNP and its president, Mr. Sanz have specially thanked all the coaches of the different categories and sports, who work hard throughout the year to obtain such good results. Javier Sanz expressed how important it is to see how the coaches work with passion, and not only teaching the young athletes how to compete but also how to humanly support this activity".

Before the club's president closed the ceremony all the assistants enjoyed a video entitled: “Campeones en la sombra”, where the ten coaches of the RCNP (Pedro Marí, Jordi Castro, Juan José Oliver, Jaume Tous, Hugo Ramón, Juan Juan Barceló, Ismael Uali, Alexis Capdevila, Carlos Mota and Sergio Hernaiz) explained their jobs and relationship with their pupils, throughout the year. The whole coaching team is very satisfied with the results obtained in 2013, although they specified that the positive aspect of all this, is the passion for sport that is being ingrained “what we are looking for is to have a large group in the future still practicing and enjoying sports."
