Plenty of wind and usual winners at the Trofeo Olimpic by GP

The favorite boats, Airlan Aermec, of Joan Cabrer (ORC 1); Presto, owned by Eduardo Horrach (ORC 2); Ibe-Tres-Mares, of María Campins (ORC 3), and January Sails, owned by Gabriel Català (ORC 4) easily win in each of their category in the regatta organised by the Real Club Náutico de Palma.

The III Trophy Olimpic by GP arrived to an end with the inshore race, organised by the RCNP for a fleet of more then 30 ORC cruising boats from different mallorcan clubs.

Airlan Aermec, of Joan Cabrer (ORC1); Presto, of Eduardo Horrach (ORC2); Ibe-Tres-Mares, of María Campins (ORC3), and January Sails, of Gabriel Català (ORC4), are the happy leaders after the first days racing and after winning today's inshore race as well, having raced a course of 16,6 miles the ORC 1 and 2, and 14 miles the ORC 3 and 4.

The Bay presented strong winds never under 18 knots and with gusts up to 25 knots giving a spectacular second racing day. The Trofeo Olimpic by GP, with the support of Dyreco, Pro-Rigging and Xicarandana, sailed two races in all.

In the ORC 1 group, Airlan-Aermec, finished first as usual, followed by Bruix, of Miguel Angel Mercadal, and in third place, Petrouchka III, of Jaime Binimelis.

The ORC 2, was lead and won by Presto, in front of Pinyol Vermell, of Félix Comas, and followed in third place by Mestral Fast, of Morell and Manresa.

Marta Campins, owner of the Ibe-Tres-Mares, won in the ORC 3 división, over Yabadaba, of Bernat Ripoll, and Sirpy, of José Matheu, who ended up third.

January Sails won in the ORC 4 división giving his owner another success to his large palmares.

After the prize giving ceremony, Matías Gil, sponsor of the event, expressed his satisfaction with the numerous participating fleet this year.

Future near races to be sailed at the RCNP are to be held next 23rd of November and the Xmas Race for ORC cruisers on the 22 and 23 of December.
