Joan Cardona, finishes second overall in the sub 17 category at the Spanish Championship of Laser Radial.

The Spanish Championship held in Santa Cruz de Tenerife arrives to an end with Joan only six points away from the overall winner, with only 15 years of age.

Alicia Cebrián wins the National Championship of Laser Radial held from wednesday to saturday in Santa Cruz and organised by the Real Club Náutico de Tenerife (RCNT). the local sailors, Kevin Cabrera, finished second and Joel Rodríguez, third after sailing a very light and shifty wind conditions, with only three races sailed out of the 12 programed ones.

Joan Cardona, (from Minorca) but representing the Real Club Náutico de Palma, finished eigth overall with 37 points, only six from the overall winner. His 8-2-1-(19)-13-7-6 results have placed him second in the sub 17 category. Important result from Joan Cardona, with his 15 years of age, given the thirty years of age of Alicia, the overall winner.

Hugo Ramón, laser coach of the Real Club Náutico de Palma, explains that the first racing day gave good results to the Balearic team, but the second day proved to be complicated, having very different wind conditions in one race, and reached 30 knots of wind. These unstable and shifty conditions made Cardona loose all his poidum options. Although on Sunday he always finished amongst the ten first places.

The balearic expedition was made from sailors of the yacht clubs in Palma, S`Arenal, Ibiza, Mahón, Andratx and Porto Colom.
