Marigan (RCNP) revalidates her triumph at the classic yachts regatta of the Club de Mar

The XIX Regatta Illes Balears for Classic Yachts ended this past Sunday one of it's best editions, with the winners cutter Marigan (Gaff 1898) representing the RCNP, the yawl Argyll (Marconi, 1948) and the yawl Stella Polare (1965) received their well deserved trophies after the third day's racing.

Argyll, an Olin Stephen design, owned by Griff Rhys Jones, wins the overall trophy after three victories and becoming the star of the event. This crew is tht first ont to receive the new trophy "Club de Mar de la Illes Balears Clàssics", a sculpture (representing a classic yacht keel) created by Álvaro de la Rosa.

The rest of the winners also received their trophies after three races held from friday to sunday at the Club de Mar Mallorca; Tichiy Don (1981) in Spirit of Tradition, Thalata in Dragon Class, Regio Lupita in Lateen rigged boats Regata, Volga in Lateen rigged Open, Annika in Lateen rigged Llaüt and Munga in RI Classics.

Marigan, of Tim Liesenhoff, whose rating makes it impossible for his rival in the Gaff Vintage Class, Hispania (1909) to attain Marigan, allowed them to revalidate last year's triumph.

The yacht who once belonged to Alfonso XIII sailed all their best, and even after winning the regattas in real time, where not able to win Liesenhoff's cutter.

Marigan, also took the Grup IB3 Trophy for the best local yacht. The third place of the overall in this gaff class has been for Gipsy, owned by Ricardo Rubio.
