The RCNP takes a triple crown at the youngsters sailing Spanish Championship

Albert Torres achieves a crushing victory in Optimist, Maria Bover wins in the girl's overall results and Joan Cardona in Laser 4.7. Impressive results for the yacht club.

The Young sailors of the Real Club Náutico de Palma have been the absolute protagonists at the Campeonato de España de Vela Infantil, held in Cartagena with this triple Crown. Albert Torres overall winner in the Optis, her team mate, María Bover first in the girl's optis and Joan Cardona wins in the Laser 4.7.

Albert Torres arrived as one of the favorites for the pódium with his triumph in the Trofeo Ciutat de Palma and in the Excellence Cup. Although nobody expected such a victory with 5 races won out of the 12 programmed ones and with a advantage of 50 points on the second placed, Enrique Luján, of the RCN de Gandía. Alfonso Fernández, of the RCN de Tenerife, in third place, followed by Marc Lladó of the Club Nàutic de Sa Ràpita who finished fourth.

Torres, of 13 years old, lead since the second racing day out of 125 Spanish best sailors.

María Bover, (14 years old) also had a very good championship in the waters of Cartagena, and wins in the girl's category of this Spanish Championship. María also won this tittle last year, and overall finished in fifth place this year, followed by Aina Colom, from the Club Nàutic S`Arenal, who finished sixth after an tight fight with Maria.

The Balearic team ends up with four sailors in the first six places in the Optis, a historic result for this island sports activity.

Joan Cardona, (only 15 years old) also has been very superior to his opponents with 28 points advantage from the second place by Pedro Muñiz, from the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria. Joan had already proclaimed himself national sub 16 champion in this class becoming together with Albert a promising future for the balearic and national sailing world.

Cardona prooved a perfect concentration during the four competition days by winning half of the programmed racing Schedule. The next competition he is now training for is the world championship to be held in July in Hungary.

The Opti Balearic team with Albert Torres, María Bover, Aina Colom, Marc Lladó and Jaime Julia, also proudly won the Optimist Team Spanish Championship which was held previously and also organised by the Real Club de Regatas de Cartagena.
