The J Class will hold a historic regatta tomorrow in the Bay of Palma

The Real Club Nautico de Palma is one more year the technical supporter of the Superyacht Cup, with 20 entries with boat lengths from 24 to 45 meters.

The Bay of Palma will hold from tomorrow to saturday, one of the most spectacular yachting events of the world, the SYC organised by the Real Club Nautico de Palma with 5 J Class amongst the twenty entries for the first time in Europe.

Four of these “J Class” to meet here in Palma are replicas of boats that are now not amongst us, and Velsheda, of 38 metros, is the original one launched in 1933, a surviver and another way of understanding what sailing can revive...in 2004, Ranger of 42 metres, was built with the same drawings as his ancestor, Ranger 77C, 1937.

Then followed, Hanuman (2009), a sister of Endeavour (1937); Lionheart (2010), built on the same drawing and plans as Ranger, and Rainbow (2012), whose waterlines follow her ancestor of 1934. All of them have more than 40 meters long.

The “J Class” sail four days at 13:00 and initiate the SYC tomorrow Thursday with a W/L course. This will be the first time when these five giants sail together in Europe. Previously they had met in Saint Barth, this past Winter.
The second day competition will follow with another W/L and two coastal races for the two last days.

The Real Club Náutico de Palma supports the SYC as the technical organiser for the event, permits, documents and all the logistics out on the water.

The social program of the SYC will happen at the Moll Vell de Palma, in front of the moorings of the competing boats.
