For close to half a century, Nautor's Swan has been the true sailor's choice, designing and building luxurious, high performance yachts in Northern Finland. The value of a Swan is derived from the company's strong heritage, skilled craftsmen and pursuit of excellence in every aspect of the build.
Before there was a Club Swan 42 there was a concept. David Elwell, of the New York YC, wanted to develop a one design capable of participating in yacht club cruises, regattas, and offshore events such as the Bermuda Race.
Elwell and other members of the club also wanted the design to be competitive under IRC. After many meetings and proposals from several designers and builders, NYYC members-and anyone else willing to pony up the deposit and get in the long line of prospective owners-have created a high-performing, no-nonsense raceboat that's already begun to make a mark on the U.S. racing scene.
Launched in 2001, Nautor's Swan expertly combined close to half a century of experience, precision craftsmanship and cutting edge technology to create the masterpiece that is the Swan 45. Over the years, the Swan 45 Class has gone from strength to strength on the international racing circuit through the engagement of an extensive, owner network of passionate sailors and has become one of the most competitive and socially active classes in the world of sailing.
Boasting a 50-strong fleet around the globe, the Swan 45 Class consistently takes centre stage as a one design class, while also claiming wins at major international regattas in IRC.
Nautor's Swan has always offered high performance racing yachts to complement its classic range of cruising Swans, yachts such as the 39, the 441 in Racing version, and the 60 Regatta.
Today the yard uses its new ClubSwan models to test the most modern trends in design, materials and solutions, refining technologies that will then be used to the benefit of the cruising models. Like Swan 45 and 42, successful one designs still winning in top level races.
But with the ClubSwan 50 Nautor has pushed the limits, proposing a yacht that is a small revolution in performance and pure sailing pleasure.
